Current trends in fitness lean heavily towards group fitness classes that resemble boot camp style workouts or anonymously lifting at a big box gym with headphones, access to your phone in order to avoid eye contact with that person that always seems to be there at the same time as you that you hope doesn’t talk to you…You know who I’m talking about!

At Momentum, we believe that working out doesn’t require instructors with headsets yelling at you to complete endless bodyweight squats or worse BURPEES! No doubt these are intended to challenge you with the difficult task of performing high repetitions with minimal rest. However,  this style of workout can lead to overtraining with symptoms including the feeling of excessive fatigue, chronic or nagging injuries, and lack of progress toward meaningful results. These symptoms are discussed in more detail here.

Our goal is to challenge our clients with research-based exercises that are meant to propel you towards your goals of looking, feeling, and performing life and athletic ventures better and more confidently. Our Doctors of Physical Therapy and Certified Personal Trainers are experts in human movement providing optimal exercise instruction to ensure you perform exercises correctly. Programs are designed with longevity in mind, thus building the proper foundation is very important to us.

Workouts should resemble Goldilocks…

  • Not too little. Think gym bro on the bench for an hour looking at your phone, then mirror, then around the gym, and periodically lifting the weight
  • Not too much. Think boot camp workout with timed workouts consisting of 1 million box jumps, burpees, puddles of sweat, and instructors yelling “you can do this.”

We provide the Just Right workout routine complete with an adequate amount of flexibility, strength, functional movements, coordination, and power. This combination creates a balanced athlete that is neither underworked nor overworked.

Like many things in life, the best results come from consistency, so while many people get good results from big box gyms and boot camp-style workouts, many are left feeling like they do not fit into this style of exercise.
